Pelvic pain that is either constant or intermittent may be due to gynecologic pathology. Some of these gynecologic problems (such as ovarian cysts) can be identified with radiologic tests like ultrasonography while other problems (such as endometriosis and pelvic adhesions) require direct visualization with procedures like laparoscopy.
This section reviews some of the problems of the reproductive system that may result in chronic pelvic pain, along with the symptoms
and signs that these problems often produce, including endometriosis, pelvic adhesions, pelvic cysts,
uterine fibroids, and other problems of the reproductive system.
